Within the health sector, there is a need for: more health advancement programs. Better identification of health conditions before they become serious. More primary health care services that are accessible to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Greater cultural competence of service providers. Making and combining these changes are important to the long term future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and for strengthening strategies to improve health outcomes.
Health improvements for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population will require the ongoing commitment by all Australian governments.
